What's New in VMware Workstation 8

Remote Connections - In VMware Workstation 8 appeared connectivity with virtual machines that run not only in Workstation (not just on your PC), but also with VM on VMware vSphere hosts running VMware vCenter (that is, you can hook directly into vCenter Workstation environment and manage its virtual machines).
"Share" VMs - In the Workstation 8 users can share access to their virtual machines when working in groups (testing, software development), which provides additional features of collective work (there is rigging "Shared VMs").
Upload to vSphere - In the Workstation 8 is possible to download a virtual machine from your PC to the server with VMware vSphere, which may be useful for the deployment of the service being developed on a PC in a virtual enterprise environment of the enterprise (or "cloud"). Supports drag & drop a hierarchy of virtual machines in vSphere.
New User Interface - user interface has been significantly redesigned, there vyakie "niceties" in the menu, animated icons, improved configuration screens. Also there was a "library of virtual machines" with advanced search capabilities (not just on your desktop, but also on other hosts from Workstation, vSphere).
Improved Virtual Machine Capabilities - Added support for HD with 7.1 surround sound, support for standard USB devices 3 and Bluetooth. In addition, there are many improvements in the components of virtual SMP (can be switched off, and support for Virtual VT-X/EPT AMD-V/RVI), increased performance 3D-graphics, as well as an opportunity to create virtual machines with 64 GB of memory. Now supports 64-bit guest operating systems running as virtual machines on a virtual ESXi (double virtualization).

Ubuntu 11.10 is officially supported as a guest operating system.
Disk and memory management issues have been addressed.
